“If the rate of change on the outside exceeds the rate of change on the inside, the end is near.” –  Jack Welch, former CEO, GE

Covid-19 changed the world and the way businesses operate. Most business leaders around the globe say that businesses will not return to “BAU” and that organizations will need to change. This change needs to be managed in a proper way by change leaders like executives, program, project, portfolio and PMO managers.

Managing organizational change is critical to implementing new initiatives, and ultimately, to achieving an organization’s success. Still, organizational change initiatives fail at an alarming rate. This is because most initiatives fail to consider how changes affect the people in an organization.

To successfully implement change initiatives, whether this change is about implementing a new PMO, or change in the organizational strategy or starting a new project or program the organizational leaders must identify the need for change and communicate it throughout the organization.

Successful change management happens at the bottom, they must also engage people at all levels of the organization by involving them in the design of the implementation strategy.

Leaders must actively involve the people most affected by the change in its implementation. This will help ensure employees at all levels of the organization embrace the proposed changes.

This Change Management Skills hands-on workshop will help participants develop the skills necessary to play an active and effective role within an organization that is going through a period of change.

PMOs IN AGILE ORGANIZATIONS

This is an Instructor Led, Live Virtual Course with a total duration of 6 hours, delivered over 2 consecutive days.

Participants will receive the course recordings, certificate of attendance, course materials and useful templates.

Instructor: Mohamed Khalifa

Business Agility is one of the most trending topics in the world, and the Agile Portfolio, Program and Project Management practices have become more popular because there is an inherent benefit to the organization that adopts them.

PMO as a service provider needs to deliver value through building and designing services that are suited for such organizations, and this can’t be done unless the PMO Managers and staff know exactly what are the challenges and opportunities in agile environments and how to manage them to maximize the value.

The PMO has to play different roles in an uncertain environment to maximize the value it can deliver. For PMOs to support agile PPP, agile services requirements need to be gathered and services and capabilities should be particularly built and designed for an agile environment. This is an opportunity for PMOs to help build the knowledge and capability when faced with uncertainty.

This online workshop  covers how PMOs can start addressing the necessary challenges; particularly uncertainty and change, use different PMO roles to coach, train and advise to support organizational change, build the gaps in services and capabilities and add value to projects, programs and portfolios using agile methods.

  • Understanding Organizational Agility and how PMOs can support it
  • Learn how the PMO services Agile Portfolio, Program and Project Management

Instructor: Mohamed Khalifa

Up until the COVID-19 Pandemic, Portfolio Managers and Executives were likely to spread resources consistently among departments to ensure fairness and minimize conflicts while using different techniques like Balance Scorecard among others.

With the new set of circumstances of today, faced with uncertainty and lack of resources, Portfolio managers and other executives need to restructure their decision-making process on a portfolio level.

Today, Portfolio, Program, Project & PMO Managers have to re-allocate talent & funds across the most valuable initiatives.

Keeping a project or a program which does not add value alive, at the moment, is not acceptable. This is why organizations need to adopt agile portfolio management.

Portfolio Agility, linked with organizational agility can increase and enhance the benefits creation by enhancing the timeline of “cutting cost” and seeing this as an opportunity. It has to be done effectively to enhance the sustainability of organizations.

PMO & PM METHODOLOGIES

This is an Instructor Led, Live Virtual Course with a total duration of 6 hours, delivered over 2 consecutive days.

Participants will receive the course recordings, certificate of attendance, course materials and useful templates.

Instructor: Simon Harris

A methodology guides people about How-To perform activities to achieve some aim. The big challenge is that guidance is only helpful when it matches context and purpose. When mismatched then method is dangerous; there are many contexts and many methods an organization should know how to select between.

Projects may use methods such as PRINCE2 or Last Planner System or Agile. Programs and portfolios also benefit from guidance. When methods are too prescriptive then maybe what is useful is a framework plus values and policy that aid in making procedural choices.

This course will explore what methods and frameworks are. What exists that PMO should know and how a PMO can provide a Service to evaluate their relevance to your organization’s evolving needs.

This course ensures you

  • Can define and describe what methods and frameworks are
  • Understand what they Must, Should, Could and Won’t do for you (MoSCoW)
  • Know the Ins and Outs of some prevalent methods
  • Advise your organization on which to use when and how to combine them
  • Apply methods and frameworks to the PMO and the projects programs and portfolio work you support
  • Distinguish the strengths and weaknesses of methods when used for different needs
  • Identify when a wrong method has been mismatched to a project
  • Audit a team’s use of methods

ESTABLISHING AND ADAPTING A POST-COVID19 PMO

This is an Instructor Led, Live Virtual Course with a total duration of 6 hours, delivered over 2 consecutive days.

Participants will receive the course recordings, certificate of attendance, course materials and useful templates.

Instructor: Simon Harris

Since early March businesses across the world have seen dramatic change affect their operations, staff, customers, competitors and supply chain. RIGHT now is the time to consider what do we need to be doing.

Businesses that recognize answering the questions raised starts now or even better yesterday, has no single, visible today or enduring right answer will thrive. Those that don’t address the myriad adaptive challenges created won’t survive. Now is a period of unprecedented change that needs (amongst many other factors) PMO at the right places with the right mindsets in the organization’s governance and management processes.

If you have one or more PMO they need to be adapted to meet new normal needs. If you don’t have PMO at present then the tsunami of change washing over us will be handled more easily, faster and with benefit if your organization establishes the right suite of PMO services.

Top priority right now must be work-streams to: rebalance the portfolio (strategy assessment and optioneering workshops), also to drive cashflow (enable retaining the skills in the work-force), also removing activity that isn’t best for tomorrow, also starting or accelerating that which is, also capitalizing on the less-controlled but beneficial change that has happened in recent weeks.

This course ensures you’re able to:

  • Support organizational leaders address the question and consequences from answering “Where should we be headed now?” both now and as future Covid changes emerge
  • Repurpose or create PMO to support projects and programs, departments and divisions, the enterprise as a whole
  • Analyse the current tangle of mid-covid initiatives that have stalled, have started, should be started/ accelerated, stopped. Consolidate emergent gains, advise portfolio oversight on status and or drive workshops to design the strategic future
  • Build and maintain the PMO team’s morale and well-being
  • Learn how to rapidly establish an agile PMO that adjusts to remain matched to the organization’s immediate and evolving needs by building from scratch or repurposing existing PMO
  • Respond to or shape or drive the conversation on the factors that are determining actions to flex the organization’s portfolio of programs and projects to capitalize on the consequences of Covid-19
  • Tune the project mix to match volatile priorities and resource availability
  • Motivate the PMO staff and care for their moral and well-being
  • Plan PMO development with a Road map of 5 day, 15day, 30, 90, 180 and 360 day horizons

PMO DASHBOARDS FOR REPORTING PROJECTS, PROGRAMS & PORTFOLIOS

This is an Instructor Led, Live Virtual Course with a total duration of 6 hours, delivered over 2 consecutive days.

Participants will receive the course recordings, certificate of attendance, course materials and useful templates.

Instructor: Simon Harris

Organizations consume resources during projects and programs with the hope that the results will be worthwhile. PMO are often asked to provide a clear view of status and outlook. Two things that can be achieved using Dashboards and ScoreCards.

This course will explore who generates and who uses what data and decision support aids to steer the organization to successful portfolio, program and project results.

All organizations should be using the best development processes for the nature of the work being undertaken. Each needs appropriate dashboards for local control at the team level. Each PMO’s Reporting Service must be equal to capturing and interpreting data from diverse project types, then aggregating, interpreting and delivering as decision support information to program and enterprise leaders

Increasingly project status data’s journey from creation to use is accomplished by range of software support tools. Some provide colourful graphics, some automate transfer between ‘incompatible’ systems others use deep machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.

This course ensures you

  • Know how to establish a PMO reporting service for project, programs and portfolio with even the most basic of current maturity levels in the Exec, PMO and Development community
  • Can envision the PMO Service Road-Map to track evolving maturity
  • Are able to balance the key elements of dashboard design
  • Can perform the key steps in metric preparation and use
  • Prepare PMO Dashboard reports and Score Cards
  • Gather and aggregate data for hybrid reporting from Waterfall and Agile teams
  • Analyse data for decision support
  • Design dashboard layouts
  • Plan and execute dashboard software tool evaluations for your organisation’s needs
  • Define the PMO Dashboard Reporting Service Management plan and Service Level
